Agriculture MechanicsMembers complete a written exam which includes a safety and tool identification portion: this is a hands on contest as well. Members demonstrate mechanical and problem-solving skills. Emphasis includes machinery and equipment, industry and marketing, energy, structural and environmental resources. Various welding skills are demonstrated

Creed SpeakingThis contest is for first year FFA students only. Students memorize and recite the FFA Creed written by E.M. Tiffany, as well as answer questions based on the creed. Some of the expectations of the judges are memorization, appearance, ability to answer questions and gestures.

Extemporaneous Public SpeakingMembers deliver a 4-6 minute speech on one of the 25 agriculture topics they draw from. They are given thirty minutes to prepare the speech with the aid of 5 sources that they are allowed to bring. At the conclusion of the speech, the judges question the speaker for five-minutes. Decisions are based on factors similar to the prepared event.

Best Informed Greenhand
The Best Informed Greenhand (BIG) contest is a written test for ninth grade students. The goal of the contest is to understand the structure, history, purposes, and aims of the National, State, and Local FFA student organizations. It also covers the opportunities available to students, as outlined in the National FFA Manual and State Constitution |
Veterinary ScienceContestants must identify small animal tools, equipment, and breeds. Students take a general knowledge test and must participate in veterinary practicums.

Job interviewThe purpose of this contest is designed to stimulate interest and acquaint FFA members with the employment procedures they will face when applying for a job. The contest will also allow students to demonstrate oral and written communications as well as developing a resume and letter of introduction.

Veg CropThe purpose of the Vegetable Crop Judging Contest is to create interest and promote understanding in the vegetable crop industry by providing opportunities for recognition through the demonstration of skills and proficiencies. It is the intention of the contest to provide a venue for students to explore career opportunities, skills and proficiencies in the vegetable crop industry. The emphasis of this contest is to promote critical thinking, evaluation, oral and identification skills.

ImpromtuThe purpose of the Impromptu Public Speaking Career Development Event is to foster and develop the speaking abilities of FFA members as well as develop their self-confidence and contribute to their advancement in inter-personal skill attainment and leadership development.
The primary purpose of the event is to demonstrate the student’s ability with limited preparation time to compose and deliver coherent and focused oral presentations. |
Prepared Public SpeakingMembers deliver a six to eight minute persuasive speech on a topic of their choice that has to deal with agriculture.
Members are required to mail a typed manuscript of the speech prior to each contest to the contest coordinator. They will give the speech in front of three judges and at the end will be asked 5 minutes of questions pertaining to their speech. |
Novice Parlimentary ProcedureThis contest is for freshman and sophomores only. Members complete a written examination and then demonstrate their proficiency at using correct parliamentary procedures in conducting meetings as well as answering question relating to motions made

Advanced Parlimentary procedureMembers complete a written examination and then demonstrate their proficiency at using correct parliamentary procedures including 24 required motions in conducting meetings as well as answering question relating to motions made.
